The Three Graces
My mother's favourite painting is Primavera by Botticelli. She always calls my sisters and I her three graces. Growing up, we would go to museums and sketch the different interpretations of the three graces. My capstone is my own interpretation, dedicated to our sisterhood, our Chinese heritage and the European art we grew up admiring.
The bodice design is fabricated in Chinese brocade and features a high asymmetrical qipao collar with a frog closure. The 3D wire bodice has painted resin mini frames and a 3 Graces brooch. The sleeves are inspired by the Tudor slashed sleeves, with boning casing to provide structure in the interior and bias striped panels on the exterior. The skirt of the dress is made from two layers of bias-cut silk organza circle panels sewn together.
Materials: Silk organza, silk faille, Chinese brocade, satin ribbon, multi media wire, boning, painted resin frames, brooch, frog closure, grommets
Year: 2025
