The Beauty of Duality
For this collection, I was inspired by the yin and yang and it's cycle stages; opposition, interdependence, mutual, consumption and intertransformation. My artist inspiration was the Art Nouveau and Aestheticism illustrator Aubrey Beardsley. His use of graphic lines and black and white ink inspired me to experiment with Japanese sumi ink to create this collection. As well, I was inspired by the high collared cheongsams from the film In the Mood For Love and Anna May Wong in Shanghai Express.
